I'm going to be narcissistic and tell you my own story, because it's... I don't know, worth telling. BECAUSE IT'S TEH FAIIIIITH.
So, me and my girlfriend met online. Not a dating site or anything like that, mind you.
I had this friend who was into Tokio Hotel, and as I am into fanfiction, I registered a Finnish Tokio Hotel forum just to read the fanfiction. At some point, I thought I'd write fics about them myelf, seeing that I've a long history of fic-writing. Then I thought I'd check their music and FOR REAL this time. I thought I'd listen to it for a while and see if I get an inspiration. However, as I liked the music, and I wrote fics, I became active at the forum instead of just lurking and reading the fics.
There was this one user whom I thought was a troll at first. Her nick was something alone the lines of 'Grammar Nazi' and I thought, "Oh well... a troll, that's what she is." And why? Because the forum was full of teenagers. If their native language was English, they'd write 'your' instead of 'you're' and they'd mess up 'there', 'their' ja 'they're' and so forth, and someone with a nick 'Grammar Nazi' just seemed like a... well, troll.
However, one day in August she added me on MSN, and we chatted, and we got along, and me, being the most awkward person EVER found out it was easy to talk to her. Month or so passed, and I had a crush on her - and we hadn't even met face to face yet. (Actually, we didn't meet REALLY until we had been together for two weeks.)
Anyhow, she was still in a relationship, but as some time passed, they broke up. I tried not to get my hopes up and so forth, but it really wasn't of use.
10th of November, and I told her I've a crush on her. 11th of November, and we got together. In the end of November she came here, and well, it's been a year and eight months now, of which we've been engaged for about a year.
People mightn't know what kind of music Tokio Hotel plays, but it's pop-rock-ish. Very unusual in my taste of music, where industrial dominates. What are the odds of meeting someone with the same taste of music (besides Tokio Hotel, we both like Marilyn Manson, Korn, KMFDM, Deathstars and so forth, but majority of those we've discovered together or through each other) on a forum that focuses on the music you usually don't like?
Ha, there are many things that might've gone differently. After all - there are two Finnish Tokio Hotel forums. Had my friend used the another, had I not become inspired, had I not liked the music, had I not accepted the add on MSN (at that point people were adding me just to be plain idiots, and I didn't accept many adds), had I not decided to be open with her... Geez.
No drama here, though.
...now why do I always write these loooooong answers to the Writer's block questions? How about a REAL entry next time? We shall see about that.
Edited to add: If you've
m_artsa friended, the other side of the story is here. If you don't have her friended, too bad, because she's awesome. (I'd tell you to friend her but she'd say I'm LJ whoring her.)
